以無趣生硬的方式教導加減法,會降低孩子的學習意願。而教室裡,數學區的教材,是用觸摸和移動教材來學習。從操作數棒獲得對數量的概念,在金色串珠的教具中了解十進位系統,並運用分數板讓孩子以具體的教材比較分數的大小關係。藉由實體的教具,讓孩子從操作中理解數學的運算,獲得對學習的滿足感。
Dr. Montessori demonstrated that if a child has access to mathematical equipment in his early years, he can easily and joyfully assimilate many facts and skills of arithmetic. It will reduce children's willingness to learn to teach addition and subtraction in a boring and prescribed way. In the math section of the classroom, we learn by touching and moving the materials. The children obtain the concept of numbers by using the Spindle Boxes, understand the decimal system with the Thousand Chain, and compare fractions with Fraction Material. The children can learn computation through physical materials and get the sense of satisfaction in learning.
